our story
We are Jeremy & Kelsey Klausing. We grew up in northern Indiana (Crown Point & Fort Wayne) and coincidentally both moved to Indianapolis around the same time in 2013. A few years later we met on Bumble & the rest is history!
As residents of Bates-Hendricks for the past five years, we were always waiting for someone to open up a brewery/winery/meadery that we could walk to and enjoy. After a few years of waiting...we decided to open one ourselves! Klausing's Mead & More is the result. We'll be a family owned business that focuses on making high quality mead, wine, and cider that hopefully everyone can enjoy. Being independent will give us the flexibility to experiment and offer unique options throughout the year.
We worked with the Indianapolis based creative studio Guide & Anchor on our branding & logo that is influenced by the community of cats that have adopted us over the years, our love for New Orleans (where we eloped in 2020), and our daughter Magnolia!

our mead maker
Kelsey bought Jeremy a home brew kit at the end of 2018 hoping he'd make a few (bad) batches then move on...little did she know where that gift would lead!
Jeremy kicked off 2019 by brewing a few beers and learning everything he could about fermentation. Later that year, and after discovering a meadery in his hometown of Crown Point, he started to explore making his own mead. Since then, he's made over 200 batches and won multiple awards in competitions across the country. In 2022 he was named "Indiana Mead Maker of the Year" at the Indiana Brewers' Cup, while taking home first place and best of show for one of his meads.

our causes
We love to give back to causes that mean the most to us, our friends, and our neighbors. We have a love for all cats and plan to continue supporting local charities such as FACE Animal Clinic & Indy Neighborhood Cats as we grow our business! If you look closely, our logo even features an ear-tipped community cat!
Over the past year, we've helped raise over $11,000 for multiple charities and we hope to keep that momentum going in the future. Stay tuned for more specifics on how we'll be supporting these wonderful organizations moving forward.
